Biome Installations for the Negotiation Rooms
with the Royal Botanic Gardens Edinburgh and NatureScot
For the 2021 United Nations Climate Change Conference, the Royal Botanic Gardens Edinburgh and NatureScot were collectively invited to create plant installations for ten key negotiation rooms.
These rooms were designed according to eight representative biomes of the world: BOREAL FOREST, TEMPERATE MIXED FOREST (Northern Hemisphere), TROPICAL RAINFOREST, TEMPERATE BROADLEAF FOREST (Southern Hemisphere), MEDITERRANEAN SHRUBLAND, TEMPERATE GRASSLAND, DESERT (ARID BIOME) and the URBAN BIOME.
Driven by the principles of ikebana, 56 large scale arrangements were created using materials that were sustainably sourced from sites across Scotland (the Royal Botanic Gardens Edinburgh, Logan Botanic Gardens and NatureScot reserves).
